There is increasing evidence that elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is a risk factor as well as a prognostic factor for ischemic stroke and coronary events (Rifai and Ridker, 2001; Di Napoli et al., 2005; Ishikawa et al., 2007; den Hertog et al., 2009; Song et al., 2009). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is ischemic stroke.
