In consistent with reports by Xu et al. of nonobese NAFLD22, the individuals with NAFLD were characterized by higher levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (p < 0.0001), alkaline phosphatase (p = 0.002), total triglycerides (p < 0.0001), very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (p < 0.0001), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GT) (p < 0.0001), and serum uric acid (p = 0.016). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
