Provided that NF-κB mediated the pro-inflammatory effects ofS100A8/A9 (Vogl et al., 2012) and the suggestion of S100A8/S100A9 complex and IL-6 as markers of prognosis in senior patients with heart failure (Ma et al., 2012), we observed concordantly that the protein abundances of NF-κB and IL-6 were increased in diabetic hearts in response to DOX exposure. This evidence concerns the gene S100A8 and heart failure.
