TSPO and central nervous system cancer: Santoro et al. [183] recently demonstrated that application of synthetic TSPO ligands from the N,N-dialkyl-2-phenylindol-3-ylglyoxylamides class to C6 glioma cell line cultures correlates with reduced lipid peroxidation and reductions in iNOS and COX-2 expression in LPS-stimulated cells [183], providing further evidence of the involvement of TSPO in the induction of pro-inflammatory factors and ROS-mediated oxidative stress.
