Aβ production in glaucoma can occur as a result of caspase-3-mediated abnormal APP processing [124], and reduced levels of Aβ1-42 and increased levels of Tau are found in the vitreous of glaucoma patients versus age-matched controls, a pattern consistent with that found in the Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) of patients with AD [197].
