For example, overexpression of eIF4G in mammalian cells is sufficient to induce transformation (Fukuchi‐Shimogori et al., 1997), while in humans, overexpression of eIF4G is associated with breast, pharyngeal, and lung cancer (Bauer et al., 2002; Cromer et al., 2003; Braunstein et al., 2007).
