Blockade of the 5-HT6R function increases cholinergic and glutamatergic neurotransmission, and improves cognition parameters in a number of animal models of cognitive deficits, suggesting that 5-HT6R may have therapeutic utility in the treatment of various neurological and psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression and epilepsy [6,7,8]. The gene discussed is HTR6; the disease is depressive disorder.
