The statistical analysis revealed that patients with genotype GG of rs2896019 in the PNPLA3 gene had a higher risk of moderate to severe NAFLD than patients with genotypes GT and TT (60.3% vs 46.2% and 40.2%, respectively, P = 0.03, Fig. 2A, Table S2). The gene discussed is PNPLA3; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
