As high cell proliferation rates play important roles in cancer progression and cell cycle change affects cell proliferation [33–35], we also evaluated the levels of cell cycle-related proteins and found that overexpression or knockdown of Barx2 resulted in weakened or elevated expression of c-myc and CyclinD1, giving further assurance to the idea that Barx2 inhibits the viability of GC cells.
