BRAF and metastatic melanoma: In 2011, the anti-CTLA-4 antibody YERVOY® (ipilimumab, IPI; Bristol-Myers Squibb, New York, NY, USA) and BRAF inhibitor Zelboraf® (vemurafenib, VEM; Genentech, San Francisco, CA, USA) were approved for the treatment of metastatic melanoma, marking the first immune checkpoint inhibitor and the first targeted agent, respectively, to be approved for this indication.
