CRP and atrial fibrillation: We performed an explorative pilot study in which we hypothesized that in critically ill patients both tissue (Skin AF) and circulating AGEs (CML and N"-(carboxyethyl)lysine (CEL)) are elevated in concordance with the soluble receptor for AGEs and markers of lipid peroxidative stress (LDL dienes) and inflammation (CRP) and that particularly circulating AGEs are associated with disease severity and outcome.
