Frequent, aberrant methylation of a crucial CpG island was found to be the main mechanism for inactivation of CDKN2A in the early stages of carcinogenesis [3], and the degree of CDKN2A methylation has been associated with overall survival and disease-free survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [4]. Here, CDKN2A is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
