Previous research conducted in our laboratory demonstrated that among 8 polymorphisms along the ACSL5 gene, only the common single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs2419621, found in the promoter region, displayed a significant association with rate of weight loss response in women with obesity participating in a weight management program (which included an initial 6-week period of 900 kcal meal replacement) [8]. The gene discussed is ACSL5; the disease is obesity disorder.
