RAD51 G151D was identified as a heterozygous somatic breast cancer variant and the patient harboring the G151D RAD51 variant appeared to be resistant over the course of three years to various chemotherapeutic drugs including doxorubicin (Adriamycin), mitomycin C, and 5-fluorouracil, along with ionizing radiation (IR), eventually succumbing to metastatic disease. The gene discussed is RAD51; the disease is breast carcinoma.
