While over 1000 different proteins could be identified in the total A. muciniphila proteome, the number of sarkosyl-treated OM proteins amounted to slightly lower amounts (812 and 719 proteins from the mucin and glucose grown cells, respectively) but exceeded those found in the sucrose gradient fractions (up to ~500 proteins), indicative of the efficiency of the detergent treatment (Supplementary Table S1).
