Death receptors 4 and 5 (DR4, DR5; TRAILR1, TRAILR2) are stimulated by the TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL, Apo2L), which unlike other TNF family members preferentially induces cell death in tumor cells [1, 2], suggesting a prospective therapeutic application in cancer treatment. The gene discussed is TNFRSF10B; the disease is cancer.
