However, acute myeloid leukemia can result from loss‐of‐function mutations in SPI1 or reduced Spi1 expression (Sive et al., 2016; Will et al., 2015), while induced expression of SPI1 in myeloid leukemia cells restores their differentiation and reduces their proliferation rates (Tkatchenko et al., 2001). Here, SPI1 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
