The myosin light chain 2 gene (MYL2) encodes a regulatory light chain associated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol metabolism, and Hirotaka et al. reported that the single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs2188380 of MYL2–CUX2 was associated with gout in a Japanese male population27. Here, MYL2 is linked to gout.
