CNR1 and Cachexia: This observed meal pattern is distinct from that elicited by the major psychoactive plant cannabinoid ∆9-THC, suggesting that CBG acts via an as yet undetermined mechanism unlikely to be direct activation of CB1R. These data thus provide a rationale for pre-clinical investigation of CBG as a novel treatment in models of cancer- or chemotherapy-induced cachexia, for which there is an urgent unmet clinical need for well-tolerated appetite stimulants.
