HBP has been now confirmed as an early biomarker that may have a clinical role in the prediction of imminent death after cardiac arrest, similarly to other early inflammatory biomarkers previously assessed by us in the same population, i.e., PTX3 and sST2 [15], but with limited prediction of long-term outcome, in contrast to others, i.e., IL-6 or kynurenine metabolites [6, 27]. This evidence concerns the gene PTX3 and cardiac arrest.
