The CUB domain-containing protein 1 (CDCP1) [1–3], has been implicated in tumor resistance to cytotoxic chemotherapy agents such as gemcitabine [4], and also allows cancer cells to resist cell death induced by targeted therapeutics such as next-generation BCR-ABL inhibitors [5], and the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted monoclonal antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin) [6]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is neoplasm.
