Consistent with our proposed role of SOX2 in FTE cells, its ectopic expression significantly reduced expression of MYC and PAX8, an important transcription factor during embryogenesis of Müllerian tissues, in primary cultured FTE cells and SKOv3 ovarian cancer cells to undetectable levels by immunostaining (Supplementary Fig. S10). The gene discussed is PAX8; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
