Our previous findings indicated that clomiphene blocks EBOV infection by blocking entry of viral particles into the cell cytoplasm [20,29]; this effect appears to be at the level of fusion between the membrane of the viral particle and the limiting membrane of an Niemann-Pick disease, type C1 positive (NPC1+) endolysosome, the site of EBOV fusion [30,31,32]. This evidence concerns the gene NPC1 and Niemann-Pick disease.
