In our study, we observed that, in PHTN, concentrations of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly higher compared to N. Similar results are reported by Derosa et al., who found that the levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, and TIMP-1 are increased in patients with hypertension [23], as well as in patients with T2D [71]. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP1 and hypertensive disorder.
