Since activating mutations in PIK3CA have been associated with resistance to various chemotherapeutic agents [20, 21], these results suggested a potential mechanism of cisplatin resistance in cervical cancer cells expressing PIK3CA-E545K and support the hypothesis that inhibiting the PI3K pathway may restore cisplatin sensitivity in cervical cancer cells expressing PIK3CA-E545K. This evidence concerns the gene PIK3CB and cervical cancer.
