Taken together, these observations suggest that not only is PIK3CA a potential drug target for the treatment of patients with cervical cancer, but its inhibition may improve the delivery and efficacy of standard cisplatin chemotherapy, reduce the migratory potential of tumour cells and ultimately improve patient outcomes in patients with PIK3CA-E545K mutation who receive cisplatin as part of their treatment regimen. This evidence concerns the gene PIK3CA and cervical cancer.
