In conclusion we observed several novel associations in a pleiotropic region that has been found to be of key relevance in the susceptibility to various types of cancer and diabetes, confirming a key role for CDKN2A/B in pancreatic cancer and suggesting a possible involvement of the common genetic variability at this locus in PDAC risk. The gene discussed is CDKN2A; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
