Among women with low folate intake or high-activity MTHFR/TYMS (methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase /thymidylate synthetase) genotypes, green tea consumption was inversely associated with breast cancer risk [22], suggesting that folate pathway inhibition might be one of the mechanisms for the protection that green tea provides against breast cancer in humans.
