Importantly, using human glioma lines such as G55 and LN229, we demonstrate that, in addition to (epi)genetic events, hypoxia/HIF-1α represses ephrinB2 function, which is in line with the well-studied pro-invasive role of the HIF pathway and the activation of HIF-1α in invading glioma cells17, 40. This evidence concerns the gene EFNB2 and central nervous system cancer.
