The promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein is a tumor suppressor, which is involved in the t(15;17) chromosomal translocation associated with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).1 In APL, the t(15;17) chromosomal translocation juxtaposes PML gene to the gene encoding retinoic acid receptor-α (RARA). This evidence concerns the gene RARA and acute promyelocytic leukemia.
