Furthermore, rs199533 (in MAPT), which is the strongest association (P = 6.7 × 10−16) within the region of significant SNPs in our GWAS meta-analysis, has been previously reported as being associated with Parkinson’s disease (Hamza et al. 2010), as have been various other SNPs in this region (Nalls et al. 2014). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Parkinson disease.
