ADAMTS14 and neoplasm: Since oral cancer is a type of malignancies that develops in the mucosa tissues of the mouth or throat, it is conceivable that the accumulation of carcinogenic substances derived from addictive behaviors (e.g. betel nut chewing and smoking) over time in combination with the elevation of specific regulators of tumor angiogenesis, such as ADAMTS14, within oral or adjacent tissues could finally lead to a malignant phenotype.
