Given that the viral antigens E6 and E7 generate a strong B-cell response in patients with HPV(+) HNSCC [37], it is likely that the expression of the B-cell activation marker CD200 [38] is linked to a persistence of HPV-driven, tumor-derived antigens, which in turn stimulate specific B-cells in the germinal center and the tumor itself. Here, CD200 is linked to head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
