It is reported that mTORC1 is activated in denervation-induced skeletal muscle atrophy [23–26] and further downstream activation of MAFbx and MuRF1 to promote atrophy, but the anti-atrophy effect of mTOR inhibition by rapamycin treatment was inconclusive [25, 26].
