Its main purpose was to use established predictors of microvascular disease (tumor necrosis factor-α [TNFα], interleukin-6 [IL-6], high-sensitivity C-reactive protein [hs-CRP], soluble intercellular cytoadhesive molecule-1 [sICAM-1], soluble vascular cytoadhesive molecule-1 [sVCAM-1], and adiponectin) as screening tools for adverse effects of obesity and dyslipidemia in this age group [3–4]. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
