CD11b+ cells were falsely identified as CTCs after capture by either MUC1 or EpCAM, in 33–100% of those identified as CTCs, with an average of 76 and 74% from either EpCAM or MUC1 capture antibody, respectively, over four different samples from patients with NSCLC (Fig 3D). The gene discussed is EPCAM; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
