Immunohistochemical analyses would be able to resolve the distinction from the malignancy easily, because the highly atypical MM cells were specifically positive for melanoma-associated antigens, representing as HMB45 and Melan A, whereas completely negative for histiocytic markers, such as CD68, but in striking contrast, the bland-looking melanophages were not, as shown in the current report.
