Interestingly, the elevated secretion of IL15 and GROa by T2D myotubes, which display impaired fatty acid oxidation, would seem to be in conflict with studies in transgenic mice, where muscle-specific overexpression of IL15 [59] and CXCL1 [60] (the rodent homologue of GROa) each resulted in improved fat metabolism.
