GFM1 and denture stomatitis: Using an established rat model of Candida-associated denture stomatitis, we show that rats inoculated with C. albicans mutants defective in biofilm formation by deletion of the transcription factors, EFG1 or BCR1, have reduced oral tissue damage (via LDH) and normal weight gain compared to the WT and reconstituted strains, indicating defects in virulence.
