In contrast, univariable analysis indicated that high baseline serum MIF was statistically significantly associated with PAD, such that the odds ratio of PAD in patients with MIF in the highest quartile was more than four times greater than those patients in whom MIF levels were in the lowest quartile (OR = 4.6, [95% CI: 1.49–14.2], p < 0.01) (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene MIF and peripheral arterial disease.
