While identifying the genes found at a chromosomal translocation breakpoint t (1;14)(q21;q32) in multiple myeloma cells, Hatzivassiliou et al. detected the gene corresponding to the FCRL4 protein, which they referred to as IgSF receptor translocation associated gene 1 (IRTA1) [3,4]. Here, FCRL4 is linked to plasma cell myeloma.
