TG and differentiated thyroid carcinoma: According to the American Thyroid Association (ATA) [1], radioiodine treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) has three goals: (1) for remnant ablation, to facilitate detecting recurrent disease, (2) as adjuvant therapy to destroy remaining thyroid cancer cells, minimizing recurrence risk, and (3) as a means to address persistent disease reflected by thyroglobulin (Tg) levels.
