In a study on osteosarcoma, the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation by icariside II was associated with its ability to inactivate epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, showing that icariside II might target mTOR, the master switch of tumor cell proliferation (Geng et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and cancer.
