Overall, a significantly decreased risk of cancer was associated with NFKB1 -94 ins/del ATTG polymorphism in all five genetic models (DD+DW vs. WW: OR = 0.86, 95% CI = 0.79–0.95, P = 0.002; DD vs. DW+WW: OR = 0.84, 95% CI = 0.74–0.94, P = 0.003; DD vs. WW: OR = 0.77, 95% CI = 0.66–0.90, P = 0.001; DW vs. WW: OR = 0.90, 95% CI = 0.83–0.98, P = 0.011; D vs. W: OR = 0.89, 95% CI = 0.83–0.96, P = 0.002) (Fig. 2). The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is cancer.
