Since abnormal function of the NAc is linked to the positive symptoms of schizophrenia56, our results indicated that the suppression of GSK3β functions via the Akt-GSK3β signalling pathway in the NAc is very likely to be involved in the therapeutic effects of antipsychotics (probably on the positive symptoms of schizophrenia) (Fig. 7A). This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and schizophrenia.
