Since patients with novel variants in the CREB1 gene experienced the positive symptoms of schizophrenia27, our data suggests that activation of CREB1 via the Akt-GSK3β pathway in the NAc is very likely to be associated with the therapeutic effects of aripiprazole and haloperidol on the positive symptoms of schizophrenia (Fig. 7C). This evidence concerns the gene CREB1 and schizophrenia.
