This mutant EGFR gene was discovered by Shibuya et al. in 1988 [10, 13] and named ⊿EGFR, de2-7 EGFR, or more commonly, EGFRvIII. The EGFRvIII gene has been found in glioblastoma, lung, breast, ovarian, colorectal, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and prostate cancer. Here, EGFR is linked to prostate cancer.
