SOX9 and neoplasm: In the present study, we show, both in vitro and in vivo, SOX9 anti-tumor suppressor activities in CRC cells and we demonstrate that SOX9 binds physically with ß-catenin, inhibits the activity of the oncogenic Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway by removing ß-catenin from the chromatin and decreases expression of the c-myc oncogene, the prime target gene of the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway.
