INS and metabolic syndrome: According to studies in the early 1990s (10,19), when compared with the Nunavik Inuit surveyed in a similar time frame, Cree adults had much higher cardiometabolic risk factors (low HDL-c, high TG, high TC:HDL-c, high insulin and metabolic syndrome), and also had 1.7 times lower plasma n-3 LC-PUFA levels (10,18).
