Furthermore, since Stat3 is a well-known transcription factor that directly regulates a subset of tumor-promoting genes including oncogenic transcription factors, cancer immune-surveillance, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and cell cycle factors [27], we then sought to investigate whether GA regulates Stat3-target genes involving HIF1α, cMyc, COX2, iNOS, IL6, VEGFΑ, and cyclin D. Indeed, GA modestly suppressed the expression of Stat3 target genes, especially in TKIR cells (Figure 2C). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is cancer.
