HIF-1 (full length protein comprising HIF-1α and HIF-1β subunits) is a master transcriptional regulator implicated in several cancers, where overexpression during hypoxia is associated with tumour aggression, invasiveness, and resistance to conventional therapies in cervical, breast, oligodendroglioma, oropharyngeal, ovarian, endometrial cancer and gastro-intestinal stromal tumours of the stomach [2, 13–15]. Here, HIF1A is linked to cancer.
