Although we did notidentify this particular protein in our experiments, we were able to detectpersulfide formation of other proteins potentially involved inParkinson’s disease such as park7, ubiquitin-like modifier-activatingenzyme 1 (UBA1) and voltage-dependent anion-selective channel protein 1 (VDAC)suggesting a possible impact of H2S on this neurodegenerative disease.Indeed, some in vitro and in vivo studies corroborate thatH2S plays a role in Parkinson’s disease11, 53, 54. The gene discussed is UBA1; the disease is glycogen storage disease VI.
